Well you know it’s officially Springtime in Kentucky when Maker’s Mark announces the release of its annual Kenneland bottles.
This year’s release will be just a bit different with 3 distinct bottles being released featuring original artwork by artists Sandra Oppegard, Andre Pater, and Tyler Robertson.
Proceeds from the sale of the bottles will go to LexArts for the support of its initiatives at the Isaac Murphy Memorial Art Garden in Lexington.
Murphy, an African American jockey, is the only jockey to have won the Kentucky Derby, the Kentucky Oaks, and the Clark Handicap in the same year (1884). He was a 3-time winner of the Derby and was in the first class of jockeys inducted into the National Museum of Racing’s Hall of Fame.
These collectible bottles go on sale tomorrow, Friday, April 2, and are all pre-signed by the artist who created the label, as well as by Keeneland President and CEO, Shannon Arvin, Rob Samuels, and one of three Hall of Fame jockeys – Javier Castellano, Edgar Prada, and John Velazquez.
You don’t want to miss out on these special bottles!
