Nose: Apricot, Burnt Toast, Butterscotch, Caramel, Cedar, Fig, Floral, Fresh Bread, Hay / Straw, Honey, Musty, Vanilla, Yeast

Taste: Thin, Subtle mouthfeel. Brown Sugar, Butterscotch, Candied Caramel, Floral, Honey, Sugarcane, Strawberry Jam, Vanilla, Cereal, Cinnamon, Nutmeg.

Finish: Medium Length finish. Cereal notes and fresh bread lead the way, nutmeg and Vanilla Coke through to add a little bit of depth. Light strawberry jam note is very pleasant and balances out the cinnamon; werthers caramel, sugarcane, and honey round out for a funky finish.

Overall: Not bad for $30 at Walmart. I’ve never seen, not heard of this expression from MGP, so I had to jump on it. Only the rye whiskey pops up on their website, aliaswhiskey.com where it shows the 51/45/5 rye mash for the rye expression.

The wheat shows itself off well with those floral, honey, tea, and bread notes. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one, but I found it to be a good pour for the money. Value gives this a better score than it deserves, but I won’t turn down some MGP liquid when i see it.

If you like earthy, bread, and lightly spiced whiskies – this is for you!
