Finish: Short-Medium Length. sweet oak, cherry tobacco, raisin, and maple great the palate, vanilla buttercream, cinnamon sugar, and coffee flow through before transitioning into nutmeg, oak spice, and shortbread.

Overall: For those who do not know, this is a limited run, done once a year, NAS bourbon finished in chinquapin oak barrels. I wish we could get some more information from Michter’s about the age of the base liquid and the length of finishing with the chinquapin oak, that would help push the value up even more. For a LE or LTO, this at $99.99 msrp price is still a good deal.

To give the profile a good based example: Nutella, cherry tobacco, and brown sugar mixed together. Sounds weird – but it’s damn good.

This flows through a couple of weird flavors that might throw  off your palate. Licorice, honey sweetness, and coffee make their way in as what I want to call transitional notes, but really am not sure how else to describe them. Going from the earthy yet dessert notes to oak spice to  bold notes such as coffee – it is a fun ride.

I wish the finish lasted a little longer, it falls a little short and leaves the licorice and brown sugar notes behind which may not be for everyone.

Some age and finishing time info would push this up even more for me, but very happy with this years release and wish I had the chance to snag a bottle when they released!
